Telegram X 0.29.0.1813 for Android

Telegram X 0.29.0.1813 is an alternative Telegram client for Android, made by Telegram LLC and listed on Telegram's official apps page. You can download Telegram X for Android and sign in with your usual Telegram account: chats, channels and contacts stay the same, only the app around them changes.

What Telegram X is

Telegram publishes several official clients for different platforms, and Telegram X is one of them for Android. It works with the same cloud service as the regular Telegram app, so messages sync between both apps and your other devices. The difference is in the app itself: Telegram X has its own interface, animations and settings, and it has long served as a place where Telegram tries out a different approach to the Android client. For the user, this means you can install it next to the main app, compare both on the same account and keep the one that feels better. The changelog is maintained on Telegram's translation platform, which is also where volunteers translate the app into other languages.

Who it suits

• People who find the regular Telegram app slow or cluttered and want to try a different layout.
• Users who like to test new designs before they reach the main client.
• Anyone who wants a second official Telegram app on the same phone.

Who should stay with the main app

• Users who rely on features that appear in the regular Telegram app first.
• People who need the same interface on all devices.
• Anyone who does not want to deal with two apps for one account.

How to install it

1. Find Telegram X on Google Play or open it from the official Telegram apps page.
2. Install it and open the app.
3. Enter your phone number and the code Telegram sends to your other devices or by SMS.
4. Check that your chats are loaded, then decide whether to keep both apps.

Requirements

Telegram X needs an Android phone or tablet with an internet connection and a Telegram account. The package is about 85.15 MB according to catalogue data, so leave some free space for media too.

Safety

Install Telegram X only from Google Play or through the official Telegram site. Many unofficial Telegram versions circulate as APK files, and some of them collect login data. The official app is signed by Telegram and shows the Telegram LLC name as the developer.

Price

Telegram X is free. Premium features of Telegram are sold as a subscription inside the apps, but the basic service costs nothing.

Pros and cons

• Pro: official client with the same account.
• Pro: different interface to choose from.
• Con: new features may arrive later than in the main app.
• Con: two apps for one account can confuse notifications.

Alternatives

Besides the regular Telegram app, our site lists WhatsApp Messenger, Line, WeChat, Discord and Zangi Messenger for Android messaging.
